Part 1 practice

Two people talk about an everyday situation, such as booking a room, joining a club or reporting a lost item.

Part 1 is a conversation between two people about something practical: one usually asks for information or makes a booking, and the other gives the details. Most questions ask you to complete a form or a set of notes with names, dates, numbers and addresses, so spelling and the word limit matter more here than anywhere else in the test.

It is the most predictable part, which makes it the best place to collect easy marks. Listen for names spelled out letter by letter, and for details the speakers correct, such as a phone number repeated with one digit changed.
